I am a lighting designer specializing in low-energy solutions for luxury villas and hotels primarily in Bali, Indonesia. My work has also taken me to the Maldives, Seychelles, Singapore and soon The Bahamas. I come from a film background and my architectural lighting tends to reflect those underpinnings. While every space is different and requires specific design, I prefer indirect lighting where possible and lean toward a ‘less is more’ philosophy in lighting living spaces.
I’ve enjoyed honing my craft in Bali, Indonesia where there is such a rich canvas of material, color and architecture in which to explore various lighting techniques. While most of my early work here has been luxury villas I have recently been moving into more hotel and resort projects with my current assignment being the re-design and lighting of the Bulgari Resort on Bali’s southern cliffs near Uluwatu. The scope of work is a complete redesign of the property’s illumination combined with a massive reduction in energy requirements and is expected to take around 18 – 24 months to complete.
While Bali has been a great place to live and work the past 10 years, I am very interested in branching out and exploring other architectural styles in which to apply my skills. I welcome any inquiries from Europe, Australia, The Americas, The UK, or any other region where lighting design is appreciated and rewarded.
